Rainforests – Our Green Treasure
Rainforests are special forests that
are wet, green, and full of life. They are called the “lungs of the Earth”
because they make clean air for us by giving oxygen. On the world map,
rainforests are found near the equator. The biggest ones are in South America
(Amazon Rainforest), Africa (Congo Basin), and Asia (Indonesia and nearby
countries).
Rainforests are very important for
the world. They give us fresh air, water, fruits, nuts, and even medicines.
More than half of the plants and animals on Earth live in these forests. They
also help to keep the climate cool and safe. Many people who live in
rainforests depend on them for food and shelter.
But sadly, rainforests are being cut
down and damaged. Trees are removed for wood, land is cleared for farming and
cattle, and fires destroy large areas. This hurts animals, people, and also
increases global warming.
We must protect rainforests for our
future generations. We can do this by planting more trees, stopping deforestation,
using paper and wood carefully, and supporting eco-friendly products. Saving
the rainforest means saving life on Earth.
Rainforests are truly our green
treasure, and we must take care of them.
